Smart Contact Form Automation with n8n: From Enquiry to Inbox and Excel


What this workflow does

This automation takes every enquiry submitted through your website contact form and processes it end‑to‑end without manual effort. It checks whether the message is spam, saves genuine leads into an Excel (or Google Sheets) lead log, sends a thank‑you email to the visitor, and forwards the enquiry to your internal company email.


Key components in the flow

  • Contact Form – Captures visitor details such as name, email, phone, and message, then sends them to n8n as a new item.

  • Workflow Configuration – Lets you map fields, set language, and tweak thresholds (for example, how strict the spam detection should be) without touching the rest of the workflow.

  • Spam Detection Agent (AI) – Uses a chat model plus a structured output parser to classify each message as “genuine” or “spam” based on content, links, and patterns.

  • Decision Node – “Is Genuine?” – Routes the enquiry to the correct branch depending on the AI result.


How enquiries are handled

  • If the enquiry is genuine

    • The data is saved to a “Genuine” sheet or tab in Excel/Google Sheets, creating a structured lead database for your sales or support team.

    • A personalised thank‑you email is sent automatically to the visitor, confirming receipt and setting response expectations.

    • The full enquiry details are forwarded to your company email, so your team can reply from their normal inbox without logging into any extra tool.

  • If the enquiry is spam

    • The message is stored in a separate Spam sheet/tab for reference and future model improvements, but no emails are sent.
